1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the inseit Protein Suite platform ("Service"), operated by inseit AG, Gesellschaftsstrasse 42, 3012 Bern, Switzerland ("inseit", "we", "us").

By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent and warrant that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Description of service

The inseit Protein Suite is a web-based scientific platform providing computational protein analysis tools, including but not limited to electrostatic surface analysis, hydrophobicity mapping, cavity detection, flexibility analysis, reactivity scoring, and multiple sequence alignment.

The Service is intended for use by researchers, scientists, and professionals in academic, industrial, and commercial life-science contexts. It is not a medical device and is not intended for clinical diagnosis or treatment decisions.

3. Accounts and access

Eligibility. You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract to use the Service. Accounts are personal unless access is granted under an organisational subscription.

Account security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity occurring under your account. You must notify us immediately at privacy@inseit.ch if you suspect unauthorised access.

Accurate information. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep it updated.

One account per person. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent usage quotas or restrictions. We reserve the right to merge or remove duplicate accounts.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Upload data that you do not have the right to use, or that infringes third-party intellectual property rights
  • Upload, submit, or process data that contains personal health information about identifiable individuals without appropriate authorisation and safeguards
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure
  • Deliberately overload, disrupt, or degrade the Service (e.g. automated bulk submissions beyond subscription limits)
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or underlying algorithms of the Service
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise provide access to the Service to third parties without our written consent
  • Use the Service for any purpose related to the development of biological or chemical weapons
  • Submit false or misleading information to the platform or to us

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and to suspend or terminate access without notice where we determine a violation has occurred.

5. Data ownership and licences

Your data. You retain full ownership of all protein structure files, annotations, and other content you upload to the Service ("Your Data"). We claim no intellectual property rights over Your Data.

Licence to us. By uploading Your Data, you grant inseit a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to process, store, and transmit Your Data solely to the extent necessary to provide the Service to you. We will not use Your Data for any other purpose, including model training or research, without your explicit written consent.

Our content. All software, algorithms, user interface elements, documentation, and other materials provided as part of the Service are owned by inseit or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in our proprietary content beyond the limited right to use the Service.

Feedback. If you submit suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback about the Service, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use that feedback to improve the Service, without any obligation to compensate you.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Free tier. A limited free tier is available subject to usage quotas set at our discretion. We may modify or discontinue the free tier at any time with reasonable notice.

Paid subscriptions. Paid subscriptions are activated via an invoice-based process. You request a subscription tier, we issue an invoice by email, and your tier is activated upon confirmation of payment. Prices are as displayed on the subscription page at the time of your request.

Payment. Payment is due within the period stated on the invoice. Failure to pay may result in suspension of your paid tier and reversion to the free tier.

No automatic renewal. Subscriptions do not renew automatically. You will need to submit a new subscription request for each billing period.

Refunds. As our billing is invoice-based with manual activation, we handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis. Contact privacy@inseit.ch within 14 days of payment if you believe a refund is warranted.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price.

7. Service availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may perform scheduled maintenance, which we will announce in advance where reasonably practicable.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time. In the case of permanent discontinuation we will provide at least 30 days' notice to allow you to export your data.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

No warranty. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, inseit disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by Swiss law, inseit's total liability to you for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) CHF 100. inseit is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Scientific use disclaimer

The analysis outputs produced by the Service are computational predictions intended to assist scientific research. They are subject to the inherent limitations of in silico modelling and should not be treated as definitive experimental results.

The Service is not a medical device. Results must not be used as the sole basis for clinical decisions, regulatory submissions, or any application requiring validated, certified diagnostic tools. You are responsible for independently validating results before applying them in critical or regulated contexts.

inseit makes no representations about the suitability of any analysis output for any specific scientific, commercial, or regulatory purpose.

10. Termination

By you. You may close your account at any time via Account Settings. Upon closure, your account and analysis data will be deleted immediately.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately without notice if we reasonably believe you have materially violated these Terms. We may also terminate accounts on paid tiers for non-payment after reasonable notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 5 (data ownership), 8 (disclaimers), 9 (scientific disclaimer), and 12 (governing law) survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Canton of Bern, Switzerland, subject to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply in your country of residence.
